10 week Course

 

Course Overview

School counselors design, implement, and maintain guidance programs that align with the educational mission and philosophies of their schools and school districts. School counselors provide solutions to help curb rates of school failure and dropout by addressing broader context that include personal, social, emotional, and career development.  Additionally, school counselors because of their unique training and responsibility, have an influential role of helping students become more engaged in the academic and social arenas within the school.  In this course, participants will explore and become familiar with the Comprehensive Counseling and Guidance Model for Alabama Public Schools.  Participants will also research and explore the effects of school guidance counselors’ programs on the academic achievement of students in various grade levels. 

 

Course Objectives

  1. Understand the Guidance Counselor’s role.

  2. Understand the impact of the Guidance Counselor’s role on student’s academic success.

  3. Become familiar with the Comprehensive Counseling and Guidance Model for Alabama Public Schools

  4. Research and explore the effects of school guidance counselors’ programs on the academic achievement of students in various grade levels.

Prerequisites

This course is for teachers, school administrators, curriculum specialists, and other school personnel. Participants are expected to have regular access to the Internet. Additionally, participants should be familiar with using email, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Adobe, scanning and uploading files, and browsing the Internet. Further, participants are expected to create a Google account. Lastly, participants must hold an Alabama Administrative Certificate.

 

Course Tuition
Course Tuition is $250.00.

You will be granted an extension for 5 days only at a cost of $75.00.  NO ADDITIONAL EXTENSIONS WILL BE GRANTED.  If you need additional time after you have paid for the 5 days, you must sign up to retake the course and pay $250.00.

All fees are NON-REFUNDABLE.
